Department is actively involved in clinical research activities, academics, training and education of Undergraduates and Postgraduates imparting the skills and knowledge in the field of Respiratory Medicine.
FACILITIES AVAILABLE
The department offers various facilities and equipments for evaluating and diagnosing a wide variety of Respiratory diseases. During its early days , it had limited equipment for PULMON/tRY FUNCTION TESTS such as SPIROMETRY which measures how well a person can move air to and from lungs.
Steadily the department introduced more procedures and facilities like Video and Conventional Bronchoscopy and Rigid Bronchoscopy for Bronchoalveolar Lavage, Endobronchial Biopsy, Endobronchial needle aspiration , bronchoscopic foreign body extraction.
Diffusion capacity of the lungs for Carbon monoxide was also setup to assess the lungs ability to transfer gas from inspired air to bloodstream and in evaluating various lung diseases.
Later Thoracoscopic procedures like Diagnostic medical thoracoscopy, Thoracoscopic Pleural Biopsy and Cryo biopsy were also introduced which helped in timely diagnosis.
Other diagnostic and therapeutic modalities available are
-
THORACIC ULTRASOUND
-
ULTRASOUND GUIDED PLEURAL ASPIRATION
-
TRANSTHORACIC ULTRASOUND GUIDED FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION OF
-
